We've had a great weekend this weekend with our club champs races. Unfortunately due to half term we couldn't do our 750m timed swim but we did a 5km run and 11 mile timed bike! Great turnout from all the club - and we had a lovely team breakfast after park run on sat! Well done to all who took part - really good to see so many committed people turning up and trying their best! |

On the 7th Feb 2015 TNT once again took over volunteering for parkrun on the town moor! It was a great morning - frosty but lovely and sunny and we loved volunteering a run that we use every week as part of our training. Even better was the great feedback we had from the community - we will definitely be doing this again!
2015 promises to be a great new year for TNT. This year we have a number of exciting events lined up to really push the team harder to get those all important BUCS points!
Starting this year we have our performance squad! Headed by some very dedicated team members, including Team GB for age group athletes, this squad is aimed at pushing those amongst the team who really want to improve their times this year and that are dedicated to attending all the sessions and supporting individual training. This focussed team will have extra support to achieve their goals and are expected to log all their training with the Performance Squad committee. TNT will once again be carrying out some training trips and in March will be heading to the lakes to test our legs on some of the seriously tough climbs! Training will carry on as normal and as we head into racing season will be dedicated to fine tuning our performance to peak at the right times! TNT will also be taking part in lots of local races and hoping to get our name out there in the local community. We are hoping to not only compete in duathlons and triathlons but also in the local cross country races and cycling events! We are looking forwards to getting our cycling kit delivered with the help of our sponsor MSteels Cycles and also getting the new batch of tri suits in! TNT also want to develop links with the community and have set up a parkrun takeover in February and will look to do this again later in the year! Keep a look out at this page for updates on what is going on! The BUCS Duathlon was as normal held in Chippenham this year and we took 20 TNT athletes compete after some impressive trials. Jordan our Kit Secretary was great at getting us all kitted out in our adidas gear and the races went well with some impressive times! Sadly we didn't quite get BUCS points this time round but it has given us the incentive to push harder for the sprint and standard races in the summer!! Well done everyone for their efforts!!
November saw TNT heading to the Tour de France routes to get the legs ready for the duathlon season. We spent two days conquering some of the hardest hills that Yorkshire had to offer and did a bit of fell running to top it off! It was a great trip which was beautiful and challenging at the same time! We also managed to visit the highest pub in England for a refuelling station at the top of Tan Hill!
Exciting news, we've just uploaded a comprehensive guide to the races taking place in the North East this season. Massive thanks to Tom Brown for putting this together! Have a look for yourselves under the about tab of our website!
Last night TNT held their first annual end of year awards night at Scalini's in Jesmond. A massive thanks to Pip for heading it all up. We'll hopefully have some photos to share with you soon! Awards were handed out to the winners of TNT's first ever club championships, as well as some more light hearted awards.
Club Champs Male: Sam Steele Club Champs Female: Pippa Inderwick Club Champs Novice: Kieran Sinclair Thanks also to our very own 'Ginger Double Act' Rendall and James for an excellent job in hosting the awards! A great night all round, next up: BUCS Olympic on the 1st of June. The Tri Club annual general meeting took place last wednesday, resulting in a new committee to take the club into it's fourth year. Watch this space for more details of the new committee members and their plans for TNT moving forward into 2015.
What a great race and a great weekend for TNT. Excellent efforts by everyone involved and a particularly big well done to those who were completing in their first triathlon ever! Hopefully the first of many! Also a well done to both our boys and girls A teams who both sadly missed out on points despite a valiant effort from both. Results will be posted on the results page with a full race report to follow soon!
